Forsaken

Forsaken (2015) is a revisionist Western directed by Jon Cassar, featuring Kiefer Sutherland and his father, Donald Sutherland, in their first substantial on-screen collaboration. The film explores themes of redemption, familial estrangement, and the moral complexities of violence in the post-Civil War American frontier.

Set in 1872, the story follows John Henry Clayton (Kiefer Sutherland), a former gunslinger and Civil War veteran who returns to his hometown of Fowler, Wyoming, seeking reconciliation with his estranged father, Reverend William Clayton (Donald Sutherland). John Henry aims to abandon his violent past and lead a peaceful life. However, he discovers that the town is under threat from a ruthless land baron, James McCurdy (Brian Cox), who employs a gang of thugs to coerce local farmers into selling their land. As tensions escalate and his father is gravely injured, John Henry is compelled to confront his past and take up arms once more to protect his community.
