Cold Road

Kelvin Redvers’ Cold Road is a suspenseful thriller that delivers a claustrophobic and chilling experience. Set against the vast yet desolate backdrop of the Canadian North, the film explores themes of survival and vulnerability as Tracy (played by Roseanne Supernault) embarks on a 12-hour journey that soon turns into a nightmare.

The film has been praised for its gripping atmosphere and Supernault’s strong performance, but some critics feel that its storytelling relies too much on exposition rather than visual tension. Despite this, Cold Road successfully builds suspense, with its eerie setting and relentless pursuit echoing classic road horror films like Duel and Joy Ride.

Cold Road premiered on January 15, 2024, at Vancouver’s Rio Theatre and later had a limited theatrical release before heading to streaming platforms. The film also received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Sound Mixing, further highlighting its immersive tension.

For fans of slow-burning thrillers with a psychological edge, Cold Road offers a gripping, isolated horror experience worth watching.
