Mosi

Mosi: The First Black Panther is a fictional character introduced in Marvel Comics as the original bearer of the Black Panther mantle. He first appeared in Marvel Legacy #1 (September 2017), created by writer Jason Aaron and artist Esad Ribić .

Mosi is depicted as the first Wakandan to survive the ingestion of the heart-shaped herb, a ritual that grants enhanced abilities. Chosen by the Panther Goddess Bast, he became the inaugural Black Panther around 1,000,000 B.C. As a member of the prehistoric Avengers, Mosi defended early Wakanda against cosmic threats, including Celestials and interdimensional invaders .

As of April 2025, there is no official Marvel Studios film titled Mosi: The First Black Panther. However, fan-made trailers and concept videos have circulated online, showcasing speculative interpretations of Mosi’s story. These projects are not affiliated with Marvel Studios and serve as creative tributes to the character.

Mosi’s legacy paved the way for the lineage of Black Panthers in Wakandan history. His story emphasizes themes of leadership, sacrifice, and the origins of Wakanda’s isolationist policies following his death during a battle that led to the disbandment of the prehistoric Avengers .
