Crisis

Crisis (2021), directed by Nicholas Jarecki, is a multi-narrative thriller that explores the opioid epidemic from three interconnected perspectives: a drug trafficker organizing a smuggling operation, a recovering addict searching for the truth behind her son’s death, and a university researcher whose integrity is tested by the pharmaceutical industry.

Crisis is a commendable effort to spotlight a real-world issue within the framework of a thriller. While it doesn’t fully succeed in weaving its complex narratives together, it remains a watchable and thought-provoking film, especially for viewers interested in socially-conscious dramas.
