A Prison Break reboot is currently in development at Hulu, but it will not feature the original cast, including Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell. The new series will introduce an entirely different set of characters and take place in the Prison Break universe.

The plot centers around a female corrections officer, Cassidy Collins, who works at a high-security prison where her former childhood sweetheart, Tommy Mullens, is incarcerated. Tommy has a target on his back, and Cassidy has her own secret agenda. Other major characters include a political candidate with ties to Cassidy, a powerful inmate planning an attack on Tommy, a rookie corrections officer, and a pregnant inmate with a connection to another prisoner​.

The reboot is led by Elgin James, co-creator of The Outlaws and Mayans M.C.. While a pilot has been ordered, the full series has not yet been greenlit, and a release is unlikely before 2026​
